Joe Kennedy has served MA for more than a decade – first as an assistant district attorney and later as a congressman. We’re pleased to announce that he’ll now be serving on the MAMH Board of Directors, working to advance behavioral and mental health policy.

Beginning today, former Congressman and state leader Joe Kennedy III will serve on the MAMH Board of Directors.

Joe has a long history of supporting expanded access to behavioral health services, and his commitment will strengthen MAMH’s role as a thought leader, advocate, and partner with policymakers.

Kennedy has served Massachusetts for over a decade, first as assistant district attorney in the Cape and Islands and Middlesex County, and later as a representative in the 4th congressional district. Kennedy now serves as a CNN commentator. He also recently founded the Groundwork Project, a political action committee aimed at bolstering grassroots organizing efforts in not only Massachusetts but around the country.

During his time as Congressman, Kennedy introduced many bills to improve behavioral health parity, including one resolution detailing the need for historic financial investments to support system reform. Reducing stigma around mental and behavioral health conditions and improving access to care are priorities for Kennedy.

As a member of the MAMH Board, Kennedy will serve as Chair of the Public Policy Committee.
